Diagnostic Tests: Notes
CAUTION:
When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and energy systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
CAUTION:
Ensure ignition is off before disconnecting connector at any component.
NOTE:
When battery is disconnected, heating and A/C mode doors must be recalibrated. For recalibration of heating and A/C mode doors, see COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
NOTE:
Before diagnosing an engine performance problem, refer to SERVICE PRECAUTIONS
under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM before proceeding.
NOTE:
Tests are arranged with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) tests followed by No Trouble Code (NTC) tests, No Start (NS) tests and concluding with Verification (VER) tests.
NOTE:
For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
.
NOTE:
Powertrain Control Module (PCM) contains two Black 40-pin connectors. PCM connector C1 is the front (radiator side) connector and connector C2 is the rear (firewall side). See Figure
.
NOTE:
Before diagnosing an engine performance problem, refer to ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS
under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM for diagnostic system functions, abilities and system diagnostic procedures.
NOTE:
Self-diagnostic tests are written specifically for Chrysler's Diagnostic Readout Box (DRBIII(R)) scan tool. A generic scan tool may not be capable of performing all necessary test functions.
NOTE:
If Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is replaced, PCM must be properly programmed. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE PROGRAMMING
under POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE.
