No Response From TCM
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Road test vehicle and check transaxle operation. If transaxle is operating correctly, go to next step. If transaxle is not operating correctly, see appropriate ELECTRONIC CONTROLS article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM). TCM is located in engine compartment on right fenderwell. Inspect connector for damaged pins, corrosion and loose terminals. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, turn ignition on. Connect one end of a jumper wire to ground. Using other end of jumper wire, backprobe terminal No. 43 (Violet/Brown wire). See Figure . Using scan tool, select BODY, BODY COMPUTER, then SYSTEM TEST. Perform CCD BUS test. If scan tool does not display BUS SHORT TO GROUND, repair open in Violet/Brown wire. If scan tool displays BUS SHORT TO GROUND, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire from terminal No. 43 and reconnect jumper wire to terminal No. 4 (White/Black wire) at TCM connector. Perform CCD BUS test. If scan tool does not display BUS SHORT TO GROUND, repair open in White/Black wire. If scan tool displays BUS SHORT TO GROUND, replace TCM. Set pinion factor to ensure correct tire size is set for proper speedometer operation. See appropriate PINION FACTOR PROCEDURE in COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION.
