Compass/Mini-Trip Computer Displaying OC
- Disconnect ambient temperature sensor connector. Sensor has a 2-pin connector with a Black/Light Blue wire and a Violet/Light Green wire and is located behind right center of front bumper. Connect a jumper wire between ambient temperature sensor connector terminals. Turn ignition on. Observe Compass/Mini-Trip Computer (CMTC) display. If CMTC displays SC, replace ambient temperature sensor. If CMTC does not display SC, disconnect jumper wire and go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect CMTC connector located behind overhead console. Connect a jumper wire between ground and Violet/Light Green wire at ambient temperature sensor connector. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal No. 5 (Violet/Light Green wire) at CMTC connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, disconnect jumper wire and go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Violet/Light Green wire between CMTC and ambient temperature sensor.
- Connect a jumper wire between ground and Black/Light Blue wire at ambient temperature sensor connector. Using scan tool, measure resistance at terminal No. 2 (Black/Light Blue wire) of CMTC connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace CMTC. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black/Light Blue wire between CMTC and ambient temperature sensor.
