Compass/Mini-Trip Computer Displaying SC

  1. Disconnect ambient temperature sensor connector. Sensor has a 2-pin connector with a Black/Light Blue wire and a Violet/Light Green wire and is located behind right center of front bumper. Turn ignition on. Observe Compass/Mini-Trip Computer (CMTC) display. If CMTC displays OC, replace ambient temperature sensor. If CMTC does not display OC, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect CMTC connector located behind overhead console. Measure resistance between terminals No. 2 (Black/Light Blue wire) and No. 5 (Violet/Light Green wire) at CMTC connector. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, Violet/Light Green wire is shorted to Black/Light Blue wire. Repair wiring as necessary. If resistance is 1000 ohms or more, go to next step.
  3. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 5 (Violet/Light Green wire) at CMTC connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Violet/Light Green wire between CMTC and ambient temperature sensor. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace CMTC.
