Passenger Seat Heat Output Open
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform MEMORY SYSTEMS VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition on. Raise driver seat to highest position to gain access to seat components and connectors. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Memory Heated Seat/Mirror Module (MHSMM) connector C3. Measure resistance between ground and MHSMM connector C3 terminal No. 6, passenger seat heater B+ driver circuit (Red/Tan wire). See Figure . If resistance is less than 8.5 ohms, replace MHSMM. If resistance is 8.5 ohms or more, go to next step.
- Ensure MHSMM connector is properly connected. Raise passenger seat to highest position to gain access to seat components and connectors. Disconnect passenger heated seat back cushion 2-pin connector. Measure resistance between ground and passenger heated seat back cushion 2-pin connector terminal "B", ground circuit (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, leave passenger heated seat back cushion 2-pin connector disconnected, and go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire.
- Disconnect passenger heated seat cushion 4-pin connector. Measure resistance of heated seat driver circuit (Brown/Black wire) between passenger heated seat back cushion 2-pin connector terminal "A" and passenger heated seat cushion 4-pin connector terminal "B". See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, leave passenger heated seat cushion 4-pin connector disconnected, and go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Brown/Black wire.
- Ensure passenger heated seat back cushion 2-pin connector is properly connected. Disconnect MHSMM connector. Measure resistance of passenger seat heater B+ driver circuit (Red/Tan wire) between passenger heated seat cushion 4-pin connector terminal "A" and MHSMM connector C3 terminal No. 6. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, leave passenger heated seat cushion 4-pin connector disconnected, and go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Red/Tan wire.
- Ensure MHSMM connector is properly connected. Measure resistance between passenger heated seat cushion connector (component side) terminal "A", passenger seat heater B+ driver circuit and terminal "B", heated seat driver circuit. See Figure . If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 2.0 ohms or more, replace passenger heated seat cushion.
- Disconnect passenger heated seat back cushion 2-pin connector. Measure resistance between passenger heated seat back cushion connector (component side) terminal "A", heated seat driver circuit and terminal "B", ground circuit. See Figure . If resistance is 2 ohms or more, replace passenger heated seat back cushion. If resistance is less than 2 ohms, fault may be intermittent. Check related wiring and connectors for poor connections or damage to wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair any problems found as necessary. If no problems are found, check if any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) apply to vehicle. If no TSBs apply, test is complete.
