Deck Lid Ajar Indicator Not Operating

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY CONTROL MODULES SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Ensure deck lid is properly aligned and completely closed. Turn ignition on. If deck lid ajar indicator illuminates, go to next step. If deck lid ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to step  4 .
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect deck lid release solenoid/ajar switch connector. Turn ignition on. If deck lid ajar indicator illuminates, leave deck lid release solenoid/ajar switch connector disconnected, and go to next step. If deck lid ajar indicator does not illuminate, replace deck lid release solenoid/ajar switch.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C2. Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster connector C2 terminal No. 9, deck lid ajar switch sense circuit (Tan/Black wire). See Figure . If resistance is less than 100 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan/Black wire. If resistance is 100 ohms or more, replace instrument cluster.
  4. Open deck lid. If deck lid ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If deck lid ajar indicator illuminates, fault may be intermittent. Check related wiring and connectors for poor connections or damage to wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair any problems found as necessary. If no problems are found, check if any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) apply to vehicle. If no TSBs apply, test is complete.
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect deck lid release solenoid/ajar switch connector. Connect a fused jumper wire between ground and 2-pin deck lid release solenoid/ajar switch connector terminal No. 2, deck lid ajar switch sense circuit (Tan/Black wire). If deck lid ajar indicator illuminates, replace deck lid release solenoid/ajar switch. If deck lid ajar indicator does not illuminate, leave deck lid release solenoid/ajar switch connector disconnected, and go to next step.
  6. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C2. Measure resistance of deck lid ajar switch sense circuit (Tan/Black wire) between deck lid release solenoid/ajar switch connector terminal No. 2 and instrument cluster connector C2 terminal No. 9. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Tan/Black.
  7. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C1. Measure voltage on instrument cluster connector C1 terminal No. 3, fused B+ circuit (Pink wire). See Figure . If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace instrument cluster. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open in Pink wire.
