Door Ajar Indicator Not Operating Properly

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY CONTROL MODULES SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Close all doors. To start bulb test, turn ignition off, then on. If door ajar indicator illuminates for 3-10 seconds, leave all doors closed, and go to next step. If door ajar indicator does not illuminate for 3-10 seconds, replace instrument cluster.
  2. If door ajar indicator remains illuminated with all doors closed, leave all doors closed, and go to next step. If door ajar indicator does not remain illuminated with all doors closed, go to step  4 .
  3. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select BODY, BODY COMPUTER, then INPUTS/OUTPUTS. Using scan tool, read DR DOOR AJAR SW and PASS DOOR AJAR SW status. If scan tool displays OPEN, replace instrument cluster. If scan tool does not display OPEN, repair door ajar system as necessary. Perform appropriate test under DOOR AJAR SYSTEM  .
  4. Open driver and passenger doors. Using scan tool, read DR DOOR AJAR SW and PASS DOOR AJAR SW status. If scan tool displays CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool displays OPEN, repair door ajar system as necessary. Perform appropriate test under DOOR AJAR SYSTEM  .
  5. Close, then open each door while monitoring door ajar indicator. If door ajar indicator does not illuminate with doors open, replace instrument cluster. If door ajar indicator illuminates with door open, fault may be intermittent. Check related wiring and connectors for poor connections or damage to wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair any problems found as necessary. If no problems are found, check if any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) apply to vehicle. If no TSBs apply, test is complete.
