Oil Pressure Warning Indicator Not Operating Properly

NOTE: Before proceeding with this test, ensure oil level is correct.
NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY CONTROL MODULES SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn ignition on. Observe oil level indicator. If oil level indicator illuminates, go to next step. If oil level indicator does not illuminate, go to step  5 .
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect oil pressure switch connector. Turn ignition on. If oil level indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If oil level indicator illuminates, go to step  4 .
  3. Turn ignition off. Remove oil pressure switch. Install mechanical oil pressure gauge. Start engine and let it idle. If oil pressure is 4 psi (.3 bar) or more, replace oil pressure switch. If oil pressure is less than 4 psi (.3 bar), repair engine oiling system as necessary. See appropriate article in ENGINES.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect oil pressure switch connector. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C2. Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster connector C2 terminal No. 10, oil pressure switch sense circuit (Gray wire). See Figure . If resistance is more than 100 k/ohms, replace instrument cluster. If resistance is 100 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Gray wire.
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect oil pressure switch connector. Connect a fused jumper wire between ground and oil pressure switch connector terminal No. 1, engine oil pressure switch sense circuit (Gray wire). Turn ignition on. If oil level indicator does not illuminate, leave oil pressure switch connector disconnected, and go to next step. If oil level indicator illuminates, replace oil pressure switch.
  6. Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C2. Measure resistance of oil pressure switch sense circuit (Gray wire) between instrument cluster connector C2 terminal No. 10 and oil pressure switch connector. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Gray wire.
