PRND3L Indicator Malfunctions

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY CONTROL MODULES SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, attempt to communicate with Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC). If scan communicates with MIC, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with MIC perform MIC MESSAGES NOT RECEIVED  test under COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM.
  2. Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on while observing PRND3L display. If all PRND3L indicators illuminate, go to next step. If any PRND3L indicators do not illuminate, replace instrument cluster.
  3. Using scan tool, select TRANSMISSION, MONITOR DISPLAY, SHIFT LEVER, then SLP. Monitor SHIFT LEVER status. Engage parking brake. Shift gear selector thought all gear positions. If scan tool display agrees with gear selected, replace instrument cluster. If scan tool display does not agree with gear selected, repair transmission range sensor input to TCM. See appropriate ELECTRONIC CONTROLS article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS.
