Deck Lid Release Switch Failure
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY CONTROL MODULES SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Wait 30 seconds. Using scan tool, clear Body Control Module (BCM) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC). Press deck lid release switch several times. Using scan tool, retrieve BCM DTCs. If DECK LID RELEASE SWITCH FAILURE DTC resets, go to next step. If DECK LID RELEASE SWITCH FAILURE DTC does not reset, fault may be intermittent. Check related wiring and connectors for poor connections or damage to wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair any problems found as necessary. If no problems are found, check if any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) apply to vehicle. If no TSBs apply, test is complete.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect 2-pin deck lid release switch connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Cycle ignition switch off, then on. Wait 30 seconds. Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If DECK LID RELEASE SWITCH FAILURE DTC resets, leave deck lid release switch connector disconnected, and go to next step. If DECK LID RELEASE SWITCH FAILURE DTC does not reset, replace deck lid release switch.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C1. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage on deck lid release switch connector terminal No. 1, deck lid release switch output circuit (Black/White wire). If any voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Black/White wire. If no voltage exists, replace BCM.
