DTC P0500: No Vehicle Speed Signal: Description

Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) signal is monitored with engine running, transaxle not in Park or Neutral, brakes not applied and engine speed at more than 1500 RPM. DTC will set in Powertrain Control Module (PCM) memory when PCM does not receive a vehicle speed signal from Transmission Control Module (TCM) for more than 11 seconds for 2 consecutive trips. Possible causes are: VSS signal circuit open or shorted, defective TCM or defective PCM.
