DTC P1288: Short Runner Solenoid Circuit: Description

Short Runner Valve (SRV) solenoid circuit is monitored when engine is running. To maximize engine performance, SRV system operates under Wide Open Throttle (WOT) conditions with engine speed at more than 5000 RPM. When actuated by Powertrain Control Module (PCM), SRV solenoid is actuated and allows mechanical linkage to redirect airflow to 6 short runners. DTC will set when PCM senses short runner valve solenoid circuit is not in expected state. Possible causes are: defective SRV solenoid, ASD relay output circuit open or shorted, SRV solenoid control circuit open or shorted or defective PCM.
