No Response From Powertrain Control Module (SCI Only)

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform POWERTRAIN SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Perform CHECKING POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) POWER & GROUND CIRCUITS test under COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS in appropriate SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article. Repair power and/or circuit(s) as necessary. If power and ground circuits are okay, go to next step.
  2. NOTE: Ensure scan tool is disconnected from Data Link Connector (DLC) for remainder of test procedure.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM Gray connector C2. Disconnect scan tool from DLC. Measure resistance between ground and PCM Gray connector C2 terminal No. 65, SCI transmit circuit (Pink/Tan wire). See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, leave PCM Gray connector C2 disconnected, and go to step  4 .
  4. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM) connector. Measure resistance between ground and TCM connector terminal No. 7, SCI transmit circuit (Pink/Tan wire). See Fig 1 . If resistance is less than 100 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink/Tan wire. If resistance is 100 ohms or more, replace TCM.
  5. Measure resistance between ground and PCM Gray connector C2 terminal No. 75, SCI receive circuit (Light Green wire). If resistance is less than 100 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Green wire. If resistance is 100 ohms or more, leave PCM Gray connector C2 disconnected, and go to next step.
  6. Measure resistance of SCI receive circuit (Light Green wire) between DLC terminal No. 6 and PCM Gray connector C2 terminal No. 75. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, leave PCM Gray connector C2 disconnected, and go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Light Green wire.
  7. Measure resistance of SCI transmit circuit (Pink/Tan Green wire) between DLC terminal No. 7 and PCM Gray connector C2 terminal No. 65. See Fig 1 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace PCM. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Pink/Tan wire.
