Parking Lights Will Not Turn On

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY CONTROL MODULES SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn parking lights on. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read HEADLIGHT SWITCH voltage. If voltage is about 0.5 volt, go to next step. If voltage is not about 0.5 volt, replace headlight switch.
  2. Using scan tool, actuate parking light relay. If parking light relay clicks, go to next step. If parking light relay does not click, go to step  5 .
  3. Remove parking light relay from junction block. Using a fused jumper wire, connect parking light relay connector terminal No. 54, fused B+ circuit and No. 55, parking light relay output circuit. See Figure . If parking lights illuminate, leave parking light relay removed, and go to next step. If parking lights do not illuminate, repair open in Black/Yellow wire between junction block and parking lights.
  4. Measure voltage on parking light relay connector terminal No. 54, fused B+ circuit. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace parking light relay. If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace junction block.
  5. Remove parking light relay. Measure voltage on parking light relay connector terminal No. 53, fused B+ circuit. See Figure . If voltage is more than 10 volts, leave parking light relay removed, and go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to step  8 .
  6. Connect a test light between parking light relay connector terminal No. 52, parking light relay control circuit and No. 53, fused B+ circuit. Using scan tool, actuate parking light relay. If test light flashes, replace parking light relay. If test light does not flash, leave parking light relay removed, and go to next step.
  7. Ensure ignition is off. Remove Body Control Module (BCM) from back of junction block. Measure resistance between parking light relay connector terminal No. 52 and BCM connector terminal No. 16 at BCM connector on back or junction block. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace junction block.
  8. Remove and inspect fuse No. 7 (20-amp) in junction block. If fuse is open, go to next step. If fuse is okay, install fuse, and repair open in Pink/White wire between power distribution center and junction block.
  9. Measure resistance between ground and parking light relay connector terminal No. 53, fused B+ circuit. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace junction block and fuse. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
  10. Ensure ignition is off. Remove parking light relay in junction block. Measure resistance between ground and parking light relay connector terminal No. 55, parking light relay output circuit. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, leave parking light relay removed, and go to next step. If resistance 5 ohms or more, replace fuse, and repeat this test. If test passes, fault may be intermittent. Check related wiring and connectors for poor connections or damage to wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair any problems found as necessary, and replace fuse. If no problems are found, check if any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) apply to vehicle. If no TSBs apply, test is complete.
  11. Remove Body Control Module (BCM) from back of junction block. Measure resistance between ground and parking light relay connector terminal No. 55, parking light relay output circuit. If resistance is less than 100 ohms, repair short to ground in Black/Yellow wire between junction block and parking lights. If resistance is 100 ohms or more, replace BCM.
