Horizontal Sensor Out Of Range High
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform MEMORY SYSTEMS VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect driver power seat horizontal motor sensor connector. Measure resistance between ground and driver power seat horizontal motor sensor connector terminal "A", ground circuit (Brown/Red wire). See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or more, leave driver power seat horizontal motor sensor connector disconnected, and go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 3 .
- Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect Memory Heated Seat/Mirror Module (MHSMM) connector C2. Measure resistance of ground circuit (Brown/Red wire) between driver power seat horizontal motor sensor connector terminal "A" and MHSMM connector C2 terminal No. 16. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace MHSMM. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Brown/Red wire.
- Ensure all seat connectors are properly connected. Ensure horizontal motor is operational. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using scan tool, monitor HORIZONTAL POSITION SENSOR voltage while operating horizontal motor to both limits. If voltage display is never more than 8 volts while motor is operating, go to next step. If voltage display is more than 8 volts while motor is operating, replace seat track assembly.
- Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect driver power seat horizontal motor sensor connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and driver power seat horizontal motor sensor connector terminal "C", seat sensor 5-volt supply circuit (Brown/White wire). If voltage is more than 5.5 volts, repair short to voltage in Brown/White wire. If voltage is 5.5 volts or less, leave driver power seat horizontal motor sensor connector, and go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Memory Heated Seat/Mirror Module (MHSMM) connector C1. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and MHSMM connector C1 terminal No. 2, seat horizontal position sensor signal circuit (Violet/Red wire). See Figure . If any voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Violet/Red wire. If no voltage exists, leave driver power seat horizontal motor sensor connector disconnected, and go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Ensure MHSMM connector C1 is properly connected. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, monitor HORIZONTAL POSITION SENSOR voltage. If voltage is more than 0.2, replace MHSMM. If voltage is 0.2 volt or less, replace seat track assembly.
