Deck Lid Solenoid Inoperative

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Black 2-pin deck lid solenoid connector. Deck lid solenoid is an integral part of deck lid (trunk) latch assembly. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located on bottom of instrument panel, to left of brake pedal. See Figure . Connect a 12-volt test light between deck lid solenoid connector terminals No. 1, deck lid release relay output circuit (Light Green/Black wire) and No. 2, ground circuit (Black wire). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool actuate deck lid solenoid. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step. If test light illuminates, replace deck lid release solenoid. See TRUNK RELEASE SOLENOID  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Turn ignition off. Connect a 12-volt test light between deck lid solenoid connector terminal No. 2, ground circuit (Black wire) and ground. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open Black wire.
  3. Disconnect Black 26-pin RKE module connector, located under center of instrument panel top cover. See Figure . Using ohmmeter, check resistance of deck lid release relay output circuit (Light Green/Black wire) between deck lid solenoid connector terminal No. 1 and RKE module connector terminal No. 16. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open on Light Green/Black wire.
  4. Replace RKE module. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
