RKE Transmitter Inoperative
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using a voltmeter, check voltage across both Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter batteries. If voltage is 3 volts or more on both batteries, go to next step. If voltage is less than 3 volts on either battery, replace batteries as needed.
- Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located on bottom of instrument panel, to left of brake pedal. See Figure. Using scan tool, select BODY, THEFT ALARM, VTSS, MISCELLANEOUS and RKE FOB & MODULE TEST. Follow scan tool instructions. Operate door locks using RKE transmitter. If locks do not operate, go to next step. If locks operate, recheck system. Program other transmitters as necessary.
- Substitute a known-good RKE transmitter. Program substitute RKE transmitter. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER under PROGRAMMING. Using substitute RKE transmitter, operate door locks. If door locks operate properly, replace original transmitter. Program all transmitters to be used on this vehicle. If door locks do not operate properly, replace RKE module. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
