VTSS Indicator Fails To Flash

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module connector, located under pad in center of instrument panel. Connect a jumper wire between RKE module connector terminal No. 17, Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) indicator driver circuit (Black/Orange wire) and ground. See Figure. If VTSS indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If VTSS indicator illuminates, replace RKE module. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Remove instrument cluster. See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - PT CRUISER article. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance of VTSS indicator circuit (Black/Orange wire) between RKE module connector terminal No. 17 and instrument cluster harness connector C2 terminal No. 2. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster. See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - PT CRUISER article. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Black/Orange wire.
