Liftgate Fails To Lock Or Unlock

  1. Remove liftgate trim panel. Disconnect Black 4-pin liftgate lock motor connector. Connect a 12-volt test light between liftgate lock motor connector terminals No. 1, door lock driver circuit (Orange/Black wire) and No. 3, door unlock driver circuit (Pink/Violet wire). Press door lock switch to lock and unlock positions. If test light does not illuminate when door lock switch is pressed, go to next step. If test light illuminates when door lock switch is pressed, replace liftgate lock motor.
  2. Connect test light between liftgate lock motor connector terminal No. 3, door unlock driver circuit (Pink/Violet wire) and ground. Using scan tool, actuate door unlock relay. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open Pink/Violet wire.
  3. Connect test light between liftgate lock motor connector terminal No. 1, door lock driver circuit (Orange/Black wire) and ground. Using scan tool, actuate door lock relay. If test light illuminates, test is complete. If test light does not illuminate, repair open Orange/Black wire.
