DTC P1294: Target Idle Not Reached: Testing
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read DTCs. If GOOD TRIP is displayed and equal to zero, go to next step. If GOOD TRIP is not displayed and equal to zero, test is complete.
- Turn ignition off. Check throttle plate and linkage for a binding condition. Ensure throttle plate is fully closed and against throttle stop. If a problem is found, repair as necessary. If no problems are found, test is complete.
- Start engine. Check intake manifold and power brake booster for vacuum leaks. Also, inspect PCV system for proper operation or any vacuum leaks. If a problem, is found, repair as necessary. If no problems are found, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCV valve hose from intake manifold vacuum port. Plug intake manifold vacuum port. Disconnect purge hose from vacuum port on throttle body. Install .125" (3.18 mm) Air Metering Orifice (6457) to vacuum port on throttle body. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Turn all accessories off. Ensure engine coolant temperature is more than 180°F (82°C). Using scan tool, select SYSTEM TESTS, then perform MINIMUM AIR FLOW function. If engine speed is 550-1300 RPM, test is complete. If engine speed is not 550-1300, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Remove throttle body. While holding throttle open, spray entire throttle body bore and manifold side of throttle plate with Mopar(R) throttle body cleaner. Also, clean Idle Air Control (IAC) motor passage. Use compressed air to dry throttle body. Reinstall throttle body. Install air metering orifice to vacuum port on throttle body. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Turn all accessories off. Ensure engine coolant temperature is more than 180°F (82°C). Using scan tool, select SYSTEM TESTS, then perform MINIMUM AIR FLOW function. If engine speed is 550-1300 RPM, repair is complete. If engine speed is not 550-1300, replace throttle body.
