Passenger Thermistor Out Of Range Low

Monitored & Set Condition

1. When Monitored: Ignition on, during the heated seat operation.
2. Set Condition: This code is immediately set when the Memory Heated Seat/Mirror Module senses a lessor value than the value stored in EEPROM.

Possible Causes:

• Passenger Seat Temp Sensor Input Open
• Passenger Seat Temp Sensor Input Short To Ground
• Passenger Seat Temperature 5-Volt Supply Wire Open
• Passenger Seat Temperature 5-Volt Supply Short To Ground
• Passenger Seat Heater Sensor Open
• Passenger Seat Temp Sensor Short To Ground
• Memory Heated Seat/Mirror Module

Testing

1. Turn ignition on. Raise passenger seat to highest position to gain access to seat components and connectors. Turn ignition off. Disconnect passenger heated seat cushion 4-pin connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and passenger heated seat cushion 4-pin connector terminal "D", passenger seat temperature 5-volt supply circuit (Black/Light Green wire). See Figure . If voltage is 4.5 volts or more, leave passenger heated seat cushion 4-pin connector disconnected and go to next step. If voltage is less than 4.5 volts, leave passenger heated seat cushion 4-pin connector disconnected and go to step  6 .
2. Turn ignition off. Raise driver seat to highest position to gain access to seat components and connectors. Disconnect Memory Heated Seat/Mirror Module (MHSMM) connector C1. Measure resistance of passenger seat temperature sensor input circuit (Tan/Dark Blue wire) between passenger heated seat cushion 4-pin connector terminal "C" and MHSMM connector C1 terminal No. 17. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, leave connectors disconnected and go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Tan/Dark Blue wire.
3. Measure resistance between ground and passenger heated seat cushion connector terminal "C", passenger seat temperature sensor input circuit (Tan/Dark Blue wire). If resistance is less than 100 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan/Dark Blue wire. If resistance is 100 ohms or more, leave passenger heated seat cushion 4-pin connector disconnected and go to next step.
4. Ensure MHSMM connector is properly connected. Measure resistance between passenger heated seat cushion connector (component side) terminal "C", passenger seat temperature sensor input circuit (Tan/Dark Blue wire) and terminal "D", passenger seat temperature 5-volt supply circuit (Black/Light Green wire). See Figure . If resistance is less than 70 k/ohms, leave passenger heated seat cushion 4-pin connector disconnected and go to next step. If resistance is 70 k/ohms or more, replace passenger heated seat cushion. See POWER SEATS article.
5. Measure resistance between ground and passenger heated seat cushion connector (component side) terminal "C", passenger seat temperature sensor input circuit. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace passenger heated seat cushion. See POWER SEATS article. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace MHSMM. See MEMORY HEATED SEAT/MIRROR MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
6. Turn ignition off. Raise driver seat to highest position to gain access to seat components and connectors. Disconnect Memory Heated Seat/Mirror Module (MHSMM) connector C2. Measure resistance between ground and passenger heated seat cushion connector terminal "D", passenger seat temperature 5-volt supply circuit (Black/Light Green wire). See Figure . If resistance is less than 100 ohms, repair short to ground in Black/Light Green wire. If resistance is 100 ohms or more, leave connectors disconnected and go to next step.
7. Measure resistance of passenger seat temperature 5-volt supply circuit (Black/Light Green wire) between passenger heated seat cushion 4-pin connector terminal "D" and MHSMM connector C2 terminal No. 14. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace MHSMM. See MEMORY HEATED SEAT/MIRROR MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black/Light Green wire.
