Low Fuel Indicator Not Operating Properly
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
Possible Causes:
- Check The Fuel Gauge Operation
- Perform Instrument Cluster Self-Test
Testing
- Start engine and observe fuel gauge operation. If fuel gauge operates properly, go to next step. If fuel gauge does not operate properly, perform FUEL GAUGE NOT OPERATING PROPERLY test.
- To start bulb test, turn ignition off, then on. Observe low fuel indicator. If low fuel indicator does not illuminate for 3-10 seconds, replace instrument cluster. See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - CONCORDE, INTREPID & 300M article. If low fuel indicator illuminates for 3-10 seconds, fault may be intermittent. Check related wiring and connectors for poor connections or damage to wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair any problems found as necessary. If no problems are found, check if any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) apply to vehicle. If no TSBs apply, test is complete.
