Body Control Modules: Description

WARNING: Vehicle is equipped with an air bag restraint system. For additional information on air bag restraint system and before attempting any repairs involving instrument panel, steering column or related components, see AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in RESTRAINTS.

The body control computer system consists of a combination of modules that communicate over the Programmable Communication Interface (PCI) multiplex system (bus). Through the PCI bus, information related to the operation of vehicle components and circuits are relayed to the appropriate system module(s). This reduces the complexity of vehicle wiring and size of wiring harness.

Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) are accessed through a 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC) using Chrysler Diagnostic Readout Box (DRBIII(R)) scan tool or generic scan tool. DLC is located under left side of instrument panel, above brake pedal.
