Driver Door Ajar CKT Open
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
Possible Causes:
- Open Driver Door Ajar Switch Ground CKT
- Open Driver Door Ajar Switch Sense CKT
- Open Driver Door Lock Motor/Ajar Switch
- Body Control Module
Testing
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect driver door lock motor/ajar switch connector. Using a 12-volt test light connected to battery voltage, probe driver door lock motor/ajar switch connector terminal No. 2, ground circuit (Black wire). See Figure . If test light illuminates, leave driver door lock motor/ajar switch connector disconnected and go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Black wire.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C4. Measure resistance of driver door ajar switch sense circuit (Tan wire) between BCM connector C4 terminal No. 4 and driver door lock motor/ajar switch connector terminal No. 1. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, leave driver door lock motor/ajar switch connector disconnected and go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Tan wire.
- Reconnect the BCM connector C4. Connect a jumper wire between driver door lock motor/ajar switch connector terminals No. 1, driver door ajar switch sense circuit (Tan wire) and No. 2, ground circuit (Black wire). Ensure ignition is off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select INPUTS/OUTPUTS, then read DR DOOR AJAR SW status. If scan tool displays CLOSED, replace driver door lock motor/ajar switch. See POWER DOOR LOCKS & TRUNK RELEASE - CONCORDE, INTREPID & 300M article. If scan tool displays OPEN, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
