Testing
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C4. Disconnect driver door lock motor/ajar switch connector. Using a 12-volt test light connected to battery voltage, probe BCM connector C4 terminal No. 4, driver door ajar switch sense circuit (Tan wire). See Figure . If test light illuminates, repair short to ground in Tan wire. If test light does not illuminate, leave driver door lock motor/ajar switch connector disconnected and go to next step.
- Reconnect the BCM connector C4. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select INPUTS/OUTPUTS, then read DR DOOR AJAR SW status. Connect, then disconnect driver door lock motor/ajar switch connector. If scan tool display switches from CLOSED to OPEN, replace driver door lock motor/ajar switch. If scan tool display does not switch from CLOSED to OPEN, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
