Left Rear Door Ajar CKT Open
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
Possible Causes:
- Ground CKT Open
- Left Rear Door Ajar Switch Sense CKT Open
- Left Rear Door Lock Motor/Ajar Switch Open
- Body Control Module
Testing
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect left rear door lock motor/ajar switch connector. Using a 12-volt test light connected to battery voltage, probe left rear door lock motor/ajar switch connector terminal No. 2, ground circuit (Black wire). See Figure . If test light illuminates, leave left rear door lock motor/ajar switch connector disconnected and go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Black wire.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C4. Measure resistance of left rear door ajar switch sense circuit (Tan/Red wire) between BCM connector C4 terminal No. 1 and left rear door lock motor/ajar switch connector terminal No. 1. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, leave BCM connector C4 disconnected and go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Tan/Red wire.
- Ensure left rear door lock motor/ajar switch connector is properly connected. Using a 12-volt test light connected to battery voltage, probe BCM connector C4 terminal No. 1, left rear door ajar switch sense circuit (Tan/Red wire). Open left rear door. If test light illuminates with left rear door open, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If test light does not illuminate with left rear door open, replace left rear door lock motor/ajar switch. See POWER DOOR LOCKS & TRUNK RELEASE - CONCORDE, INTREPID & 300M article.
