NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.

Possible Causes:

Testing

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C4. Disconnect passenger door lock motor/ajar switch connector. Using a 12-volt test light connected to battery voltage, probe BCM connector C4 terminal No. 2, passenger door ajar switch sense circuit (Tan/Red wire). See Figure . If test light illuminates, repair short to ground in Tan/Red wire. If test light does not illuminate, leave passenger door lock motor/ajar switch connector disconnected and go to next step.
  2. Reconnect BCM connector C4. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select INPUTS/OUTPUTS, then read PASS DOOR AJAR SW status. Connect, then disconnect passenger door lock motor/ajar switch connector. If scan tool display switches from CLOSED to OPEN, replace passenger door lock motor/ajar switch. See POWER DOOR LOCKS & TRUNK RELEASE - CONCORDE, INTREPID & 300M article. If scan tool display does not switch from CLOSED to OPEN, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
