Driver Seat Heat Output Open
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform MEMORY HEATED SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
Monitored & Set Condition
- When Monitored: Ignition on, during the heated seat operation.
- Set Condition: This code is set immediately after the Memory Heated Seat/Mirror Module loses the seat heat element output.
Possible Causes:
- Driver Seat Heater B+ Driver Wire Open
- Heated Seat Driver Circuit Open
- Driver Seat Heater Ground CKT
- Driver Heated Seat Cushion Open
- Driver Seat Back Heater Open
- Driver Seat Heater System Open
- Turn ignition on. Raise driver seat to highest position to gain access to seat components and connectors. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Memory Heated Seat/Mirror Module (MHSMM) connector C3. Measure resistance between ground and MHSMM connector C3 terminal No. 12, driver seat heater B+ driver circuit (Red/Dark Green wire). See Figure . If resistance is less than 8.5 ohms, replace MHSMM. See MEMORY HEATED SEAT/MIRROR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is 8.5 ohms or more, leave MHSMM connector C3 disconnected and go to next step.
- Disconnect driver heated seat cushion 4-pin connector. Measure resistance of driver seat heater B+ driver circuit (Red/Dark Green wire) between driver heated seat cushion 4-pin connector terminal "A" and MHSMM connector C3 terminal No. 12. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, leave driver heated seat cushion 4-pin connector disconnected and go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Red/Dark Green wire.
- Disconnect driver heated seat back cushion 2-pin connector. Measure resistance of heated seat driver circuit (Brown/Black wire) between driver heated seat cushion 4-pin connector terminal "B" and driver heated seat back cushion 2-pin connector terminal "A". If resistance is less than 5 ohms, leave driver heated seat back cushion 2-pin connector disconnected and go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Brown/Black wire.
- Measure resistance between ground and driver heated seat back cushion 2-pin connector terminal "B", ground circuit (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire.
- Disconnect driver heated seat cushion 4-pin connector. Measure resistance between driver heated seat cushion connector (component side) terminal "A", driver seat heater B+ driver circuit and terminal "B", heated seat driver circuit. See Figure . If resistance is less than 2.5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 2.5 ohms or more, replace driver heated seat cushion. See POWER SEATS article.
- Disconnect driver heated seat back cushion 2-pin connector. Measure resistance between driver heated seat back cushion connector (component side) terminal "A", heated seat driver circuit and terminal "B", ground circuit. See Figure . If resistance is 2 ohms or more, replace driver heated seat back cushion. See POWER SEATS article. If resistance is less than 2 ohms, fault may be intermittent. Check related wiring and connectors for poor connections or damage to wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair any problems found as necessary. If no problems are found, check if any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) apply to vehicle. If no TSBs apply, test is complete.
