No Messages From PCM
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
Monitored & Set Condition
- When Monitored: With the ignition on.
- Set Condition: The instrument cluster does not receive a PCM message for 20 seconds.
Possible Causes:
- Attempt To Communicate With The Powertrain Control Module
- Instrument Cluster
Testing
- Attempt to start engine. If engine starts and idles, go to next step. If engine does not start and idle, repair no start condition as necessary. See BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES - CONCORDE, INTREPID & 300M article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
- Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on for approximately one minute. Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If NO MESSAGES FROM PCM DTC resets, replace instrument cluster. See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - CONCORDE, INTREPID & 300M article. If NO MESSAGES FROM PCM DTC does not reset, fault may be intermittent. Check related wiring and connectors for poor connections or damage to wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair any problems found as necessary. If no problems are found, check if any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) apply to vehicle. If no TSBs apply, test is complete.
