Driver Door Central Lock (Arm)/Unlock (Disarm) Switch Failure

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.

Monitored & Set Condition

When Monitored: Continuously.
Set Condition: The BCM detects a signal on the input for over 10 seconds.

Possible Causes:

Checking DTC Priority
Binding Driver Cylinder Lock Switch
Driver Cylinder Lock Switch Shorted To Voltage
Driver Cylinder Lock Switch MUX Circuit Shorted To Voltage
Body Control Module - Driver Cylinder Lock Switch Failure

Testing

Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear Body Control Module (BCM) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC). Using key in driver door, lock and unlock vehicle several times. Using scan tool, retrieve BCM DTCs. If DRIVER DOOR CENTRAL LOCK (ARM)/UNLOCK (DISARM) SWITCH FAILURE DTC resets, go to next step. If DRIVER DOOR CENTRAL LOCK (ARM)/UNLOCK (DISARM) SWITCH FAILURE DTC does not reset, fault may be intermittent. Check related wiring and connectors for poor connections or damage to wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair any problems found as necessary. If no problems are found, check if any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) apply to vehicle. If no TSBs apply, test is complete.
Turn ignition off. Using key in driver door, lock and unlock vehicle several times. If key is not binding in any position, go to next step. If key is binding in any position, repair or replace driver cylinder lock as necessary.
Disconnect driver cylinder lock switch connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read DR DOOR DISARM SW voltage. If any voltage is displayed, leave driver cylinder lock switch connector disconnected and go to next step. If no voltage is displayed, replace driver cylinder lock switch. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM connector C4. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage on BCM connector C4 terminal No. 13, driver cylinder lock switch MUX circuit (Light Green/Orange wire). See Figure . If any voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Light Green/Orange wire. If no voltage exists, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
