RKE Fob Battery Low

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.

Monitored & Set Condition

  1. When Monitored: Anytime an RKE message is received from the transmitter.
  2. Set Condition: RKE receiver detects an RKE FOB battery low signal (less than 3 volts) for 5 consecutive button presses.

Possible Causes:

Testing

  1. To determine which transmitter set RKE FOB BATTERY LOW DTC, press any button on each transmitter. If no chime is heard in Body Control Module (BCM) when button is pressed, transmitter is okay. If chime is heard in BCM when button is pressed, check problem transmitter. Go to next step.
  2. Test voltage of each battery in problem transmitter. If voltage is more than 3 volts in both batteries, replace transmitter. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEMS - CONCORDE, INTREPID & 300M article. If voltage is 3 volts or less in either battery, replace battery.
