Horn Fails To Sound With Alarm Tripped

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.

Possible Causes:

Testing

  1. Press horn pad on steering wheel. If horn operates properly, go to next step. If horn does not operate properly, repair horn as necessary. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES - CONCORDE, INTREPID & 300M article.
  2. Turn ignition off. Remove Body Control Module (BCM) from back of junction block. Connect a 12-volt test light between battery voltage and terminal No. 18 at BCM connector on back of junction block. See Figure and Figure . Press horn pad on steering wheel. If test light illuminates when horn pad is pressed, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If test light does not illuminate when horn pad is pressed, replace junction block. See JUNCTION BLOCK  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
