Diagnostic Tests: Notes
WARNING:
New equipment was introduced to help diagnose and repair at the PCM terminals and harness connectors. The Miller Terminal Removal Pick (3638) must be used to release the connectors, or harness and connector damage will occur. Also, the Miller Special Tool (8815 Pinout Box) is used instead of probing PCM terminals. Harness and connector damage will occur if pinout box is not used.
NOTE:
All connector references in the following tests apply to harness connectors unless otherwise specified. For wire color, circuit description and connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION and/or WIRING DIAGRAMS
. ALWAYS perform TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 after each repair unless other verification test is specified within test. Ensure pre-diagnostic checks have been performed before proceeding with diagnosis. See PRE-DIAGNOSTIC CHECKS .
NOTE:
If customer's complaint relates to back-up lights, see appropriate symptom under SYMPTOM TESTS .
For engine-related DTCs, see appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. These DTCs pertain to engine performance and must be repaired first, as engine performance and related component signals will affect transaxle operation and diagnosis. ALWAYS perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER-5 after performing engine-related DTC repairs.
For mechanical overhaul procedures, see appropriate OVERHAUL article. For electronic component testing and diagnostic procedures, use scan tool to retrieve DTCs and diagnose system. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
