Pinion Factor Procedure
NOTE:
It may be necessary to consult manufacturer to determine Final Drive Ratio (FDR) number when performing pinion factor procedure.
- Pinion factor procedure must be performed to provide proper speedometer operation if PCM is replaced. If pinion factor procedure is not performed, improper speedometer readings may exist, speedometer may not operate or engine speed will be limited to 2300 RPM.
- Pinion factor procedure must be performed using Chrysler's Diagnostic Readout Box (DRB-III) scan tool. Connect scan tool to DLC located below driver's side of instrument panel.
- Using scan tool, select TRANSMISSION, MISCELLANEOUS, and then PINION FACTOR. DRB-III will display current tire size. If tire size is incorrect, press enter key, and then select correct tire size. Press page back key to exit reset procedure. Remove scan tool.
