BUS Messages Missing

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.

Monitored & Set Condition

  1. When Monitored: With the ignition on, while the EVIC is performing a series of tests on the microprocessor, compass coil and internal circuitry.
  2. Set Condition: The code will be set, if during the self test the EVIC does not receive PCI bus messages from the BCM, MIC, or PCM.

Possible Causes:

Testing

  1. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using scan tool, attempt to communicate with Body Control Module (BCM). If scan tool communicates with BCM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with BCM, perform BUS +/- SIGNALS OPEN OR NO RESPONSE FROM BODY CONTROL MODULE  test under COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM.
  2. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select BODY, BODY COMPUTER, then SYSTEM TEST. If scan tool displays PCM ACTIVE ON THE BUS, go to next step. If scan tool does not display PCM ACTIVE ON THE BUS, perform NO RESPONSE FROM PCM (PCI BUS)  test under COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM.
  3. Using scan tool, attempt to communicate with Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC). If scan tool communicates with MIC, replace overhead console. See OVERHEAD CONSOLES - CONCORDE, INTREPID & 300M article. If scan tool does not communicate with MIC, perform BUS +/- SIGNALS OPEN OR NO RESPONSE FROM INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  test under COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM.
