EVIC Inoperative
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
Possible Causes:
- Fused B+ Circuit Open
- Fused Ignition Switch Output Circuit Open
- Ground Circuit Open
- Electronic Vehicle Information Center
Testing
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Overhead Console harness connector. Measure the voltage between the fused B+ circuit and ground. If the voltage is above 10.5 volts, go to next step. If the voltage is 10.5 volts or less, repair the fused B+ circuit for an open.
- With the Overhead Console still disconnected, turn ignition on. Measure the voltage between the fused ignition switch output circuit and ground. If the voltage is below 10.5 volts, repair the fused ignition switch output circuit for an open. If the voltage is 10.5 volts or more, go to next step.
- Turn the ignition off. Measure the resistance between ground and the EVIC ground circuit. If the resistance is above 5 ohms, repair the ground circuit for an open. If the resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace the EVIC. See OVERHEAD CONSOLES - CONCORDE, INTREPID & 300M article.
