Battery Loss

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn the ignition off. Remove and inspect the No. 13 fuse in the PDC. If the fuse is open, replace with the proper rated fuse. Turn the ignition on for approximately 1 minute. Turn the ignition off. Remove and inspect the #13 fuse in the PDC. If the #13 fuse in the PDC is open, repair the PDC #13 fused B+ circuit for a short to ground. If the #13 in the PDC is not open, go to the next step.
  2. Turn the ignition off. Remove and inspect the fuse block #4 fuse. If the fuse is open, replace with the proper rated fuse. Turn the ignition on for approximately 1 minute. Turn the ignition off. Remove and inspect the fuse block #4 fuse. If the fuse block #4 fuse is open, repair the fuse block fused B+ circuit for a short to ground. If the fuse block #4 fuse is not open, go to next step.
  3. Turn the ignition off. Measure the voltage between the PDC #13 fuse and ground. If the voltage is more than 10.5 volts go to the next step. If the voltage is less than 10.5 volts, repair the B+ circuit to the PDC #13 fuse for an open.
  4. Turn the ignition off. Measure the voltage between the fuse block #4 fuse and ground. If the voltage is more than 10.5 volts, go to next step. If the voltage is less than 10.5 volts repair the B+ circuit to the fuse block #4 fuse for an open.
  5. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the instrument cluster harness connector. Check connectors and clean/repair as necessary. Measure the voltage between the fused B+ circuit and ground. If the voltage is more than 10.5 volts replace the instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article. If the voltage is less than 10.5 volts, repair the fused B+ circuit for an open between the fuse block #4 fuse and the instrument cluster.
