Ambient Temperature Sensor Circuit Open
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the ambient temperature sensor harness connector. Measure the resistance of the ambient temperature sensor. See AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE
table. If the ambient temperature sensor resistance is within the min/max specifications go to next step. If the ambient temperature sensor resistance is not within the min/max specifications, replace the ambient temperature sensor.AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE
Sensor Resistance k/ohms 10°C (50°F) 17.99-21.81 20°C (68°F) 11.37-13.61 25°C (77°F) 9.12-10.88 30°C (86°F) 7.37-8.75 40°C (104°F) 4.90-5.75 50°C (122°F) 3.33-3.88 - Turn the ignition off. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. Disconnect the ambient temperature sensor harness connector. Disconnect the compass/temperature mirror harness connector. Measure the resistance of the ambient temperature sensor signal circuit between the sensor connector and the compass/temperature mirror connector. If the resistance is more than 5.0 ohms, repair the ambient temperature sensor signal circuit for an open. If the resistance is less than 5.0 ohms, go to next step.
- Turn the ignition off. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. Disconnect the ambient temperature sensor harness connector. Disconnect the compass/temperature mirror harness connector. Measure the resistance of the ambient temperature sensor ground circuit between the sensor connector and the compass/temperature mirrorconnector. If the resistance is more than 5.0 ohms, repair the ambient temperature sensor ground circuit for an open. If the resistance is less than 5.0 ohms, replace the compass/temperature mirror.
