One Passenger's Door Fails To Lock & Unlock
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Remove the inner door trim panel to gain access to the door lock motor connector. See DOOR TRIM PANEL . Disconnect the appropriate door lock motor connector. Connect a test light between the door lock relay output and the door unlock relay output circuits in the door lock motor connector. Press the door lock switch to the lock and unlock positions. If the test light illuminates when the lock switch is pressed in both directions, replace the door lock motor. If the test light does not illuminate when the lock switch is pressed in both directions, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Measure the resistance of the door lock relay output wire between the RKE module connector and the door lock motor connector. If the resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If the resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair the door lock relay output wire for an open.
- Turn ignition off. Measure the resistance of the door unlock relay output wire between the RKE module connector and the door lock motor connector. If the resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If the resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair the door unlock relay output wire for an open.
- Turn ignition off. Measure the resistance of the door unlock relay output wire to ground. If the resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair the door unlock relay output wire for a short to ground. If the resistance is more than 1000 ohms, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Measure the resistance between the door unlock relay output circuit and the door lock relay output circuit. If the resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair the door unlock relay output wire for a short to the door lock relay output wire. If the resistance is more than 1000 ohms, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Measure the resistance of the door lock relay output wire to ground. If the resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair the door lock relay output wire for a short to ground. If the resistance is more than 1000 ohms, the test is complete.
