Passenger Door Switch Shorted Or Stuck (BUX)

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII, erase DTCs. Operate the door locks several times from the passenger door lock switch and the cylinder lock switch if VTSS equipped. With the DRBIII, read DTCs. If the DRBIII displays: PASS DOOR SWITCH SHORTED OR STUCK, go to next step. If the DRBIII does not display: PASS DOOR SWITCH SHORTED OR STUCK, the causes for setting this code are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagram as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors. See POWER DOOR LOCKS in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
  2. Disconnect the remote keyless entry module connector. Turn the ignition off. Measure the resistance between ground and the passenger door switch multiplex circuit in the RKE module connector If the resistance is less than 8000 ohms, go to the next step. If the resistance is more than 8000 ohms, replace the remote keyless entry module. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE  .
  3. If vehicle is equipped with the vehicle theft security system, go to next step. If vehicle is not equipped with the vehicle theft security system, go to step  5 .
  4. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the remote keyless entry module connector. Disconnect the cylinder lock switch connector. Measure the resistance between ground and the passenger door switch multiplex circuit. If the resistance is less than 8000 ohms, go to next step. If the resistance is more than 8000 ohms, replace the cylinder lock switch.
  5. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the door lock switch connector. Disconnect the remote keyless entry module connector. Measure the resistance between ground and the passenger door switch multiplex circuit. If the resistance is less than 8000 ohms, repair the passenger door switch multiplex circuit for a short to ground. If the resistance is more than 8000 ohms, replace the door lock switch.
