Open Drivers Door Fails To Trip Alarm

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform VTSS VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Disconnect driver's door ajar switch connector. Using a test light connected to battery voltage, probe ajar switch harness connector terminal No. 2, ground circuit. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open wire.
  2. Connect a jumper wire between ajar switch harness connector terminals No. 1, driver's door ajar sense circuit and No. 2, ground circuit. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located on bottom of instrument panel, to left of brake pedal. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select BODY, ELECTRO/MECH CLUSTER, then INPUT/OUTPUT. Read DR DOOR AJAR SW state. If scan tool displays DR DOOR AJAR SW: OPEN, go to next step. If scan tool displays DR DOOR AJAR SW: CLOSED, replace drivers door ajar switch.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 26-pin Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module connector, located under center of instrument panel top cover. See Figure . Using ohmmeter, check resistance of driver's door ajar switch sense circuit between driver's door ajar switch connector and RKE module connector terminal No. 25. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace RKE module. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open on wire.
