Compass/Temperature Mirror Inoperative

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII, attempt to I/D or communicate with the compass/temperature mirror. If the DRBIII was able to communicate with the compass/temperature mirror, go to next step. If the DRBIII was not able to communicate with the compass/temperature mirror, diagnose and repair communication problem. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table in SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Turn the ignition off. Remove and inspect the No. 4 fuse in the fuse block. If the fuse is open, replace with the proper rated fuse. Turn the ignition on for approximately 1 minute. Turn the ignition off. Remove and inspect the No. 4 fuse in the fuse block. If the No. 4 fuse is open, check the fused B+ circuit for a short to ground and repair as necessary. If the fused B+ circuit is not shorted to ground, replace the compass/temperature mirror. If the No. 4 fuse is not open, go to next step.
  3. Turn the ignition off. Remove and inspect the No. 7 fuse in the fuse block. If the fuse is open, replace with the proper rated fuse. Turn the ignition on for approximately 1 minute. Turn the ignition off. Remove and inspect the No. 7 fuse in the fuse block. If the No. 7 fuse is open, check the fused ignition switch output circuit for a short to ground and repair as necessary. If the fused ignition switch output circuit is not shorted to ground, replace the compass/temperature mirror. If the No. 7 fuse is not open, go to next step.
  4. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the compass/temperature mirror harness connector. Measure the voltage between the fused B+ circuit and ground. If the voltage is less than 10.5 volts, repair the fused B+ circuit for an open. If the voltage is more than 10.5 volts, go to the next step.
  5. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the compass/temperature mirror harness connector. Turn the ignition on. Measure the voltage between the fused ignition switch output circuit and ground. If the voltage is less than 10.5 volts, repair the fused ignition switch output circuit for an open. If the voltage is more than 10.5 volts, go to the next step.
  6. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the compass/temperature mirror harness connector. Measure the resistance between ground and the compass/temperature mirror ground circuit. If the resistance is more than 5.0 ohms, repair the ground circuit for an open. If the resistance is less than 5.0 ohms, replace the compass/temperature mirror.
