Inlet Air Temperature Sensor

NOTE: For circuit identification and wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article. After each repair procedure has been completed, reconnect all components. Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER-2  under VERIFICATION TESTS to ensure system is functioning properly.

Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read inlet air temperature. Turn ignition off. Within 5 minutes, remove IAT sensor. See Fig 1 . Using a temperature probe, measure air temperature inside IAT sensor opening. If air temperature is within 10°F of temperature displayed on scan tool, test is complete. If air temperature is not within 10°F of temperature displayed on scan tool, replace IAT sensor.
