Compass/Temp Module VF Segment Inoperative

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
NOTE: Ensure that the vehicle has been properly demagnetized before attempting to calibrate the compass.
CAUTION: The compass must be calibrated after any replacement or display "lock-up".

Perform the compass/temp module self-check. Turn the ignition off. Depress and hold the STEP button. Turn the ignition on and release the STEP button. All of the VF display segments will illuminate for 2-4 seconds. The self-check is complete when an "F" or a "P" is displayed. If an "F" is displayed, the compass/temp module must be replaced. To exit the self-check mode, depress the STEP button or cycle the ignition to return to normal operation. If any of the VF display segments failed to illuminate, replace the compass/temp module. If the VF display segments illuminated, the test is complete.
