All Locks Inoperative From One Lock Switch
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- With the DRBIII in SENSORS, read the appropriate DOOR LOCK SW voltage. Select the reading found:
- Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the remote keyless entry module connector. See Figure. Measure the resistance between ground and the appropriate door switch multiplex circuit. If the resistance is below 1000 ohms, go to the next step. If the resistance is above 1000 ohms, replace the remote keyless entry module. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the remote keyless entry module connector. Disconnect the door lock switch connector. See Figure. Measure the resistance between ground and the door switch multiplex circuit. If the resistance is below 1000 ohms, go to the next step. If the resistance is above 1000 ohms, replace the door lock switch.
- Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the remote keyless entry module connector. Disconnect the cylinder lock switch connector. See Figure. Measure the resistance between ground and the door switch multiplex circuit. If the resistance is below 1000 ohms, replace the cylinder lock switch. If the resistance is above 1000 ohms, go to the next step.
- If there are no possible causes remaining, repair the door switch multiplex wire for a short to ground.
- Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the door lock switch connector. Measure the resistance between ground and the ground circuit in the appropriate door lock switch connector. If the resistance is below 5 ohms, go to the next step. If the resistance is above 5 ohms, repair the ground circuit for an open.
- Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the remote keyless entry module connector. Disconnect the door lock switch connector. Measure the resistance of the appropriate door switch multiplex circuit between the RKE connector and the door lock switch connector. If the resistance is below 5 ohms, go to the next step. If the resistance is above 5 ohms, repair the door switch multiplex wire for an open.
- If there are no possible causes remaining, replace the door lock switch - open resistor. See DOOR LOCK SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate POWER DOOR LOCKS article.
- Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the remote keyless entry module connector. Disconnect the door lock switch connector. Measure the voltage between the appropriate door switch multiplex circuit and ground. If there is any voltage present, repair the door switch multiplex wire for a short to voltage. If there is no voltage present, the test is complete.
NOTE:
If this vehicle is not equipped with cylinder lock switches go to step 5.
