Anti-Lock Brake System Verification Test
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off before disconnecting or connecting any control module connectors. Failure to do so could result in damage to control module.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Connect all previously disconnected components and connectors.
- Ensure all accessories are turned off and the battery is fully charged.
- Ensure that the ignition is on, and with the DRBIII, erase all diagnostic trouble codes from all modules. Start the engine and allow it to run for 2 minutes and fully operate the system that was malfunctioning.
- Turn the ignition off and wait 5 seconds. Turn the ignition on and using the DRBIII, read DTCs from all modules.
- If any diagnostic trouble codes are present, return to the symptom index and troubleshoot new or recurring symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- For sensor signal and pump motor faults, the CAB must sense all 4 wheels at 15 MPH (25 KM/H) before it will extinguish the ABS indicator.
- If there are no DTCs present after turning ignition on, road test the vehicle for at least 5 minutes. Perform several antilock braking stops.
- Ensure braking capability is available before road testing.
- Again, with the DRBIII read DTCs. If any DTCs are present, return to the symptom index. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- If there are no DTCs present, and the customers concern can no longer be duplicated, the repair is complete.
