41TE Transmission Verification Test VER-1

NOTE: If Transmission Control Module (TCM) or torque converter was replaced or transmission has been repaired or replaced, reprogram pinion factor and perform shift quality quick learn procedure. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION.
  1. Inspect vehicle to ensure that all engine components are properly installed and connected. Reassemble or reconnect components as necessary. If all DTCs have been repaired, go to next step. If any DTCs have not been repaired, perform appropriate diagnostic procedure. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS .
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Ensure fuel tank is at least 1/4 full. Turn all accessories off. Start engine and run until transmission temperature is more than 110°F (43°C). Check transmission fluid level. Adjust if necessary.
  3. Test drive vehicle from a stop to 45 MPH with a constant throttle opening of 20-25 degrees 15-20 times, allowing transmission to upshift through all gears.
  4. While driving at less than 25 MPH, make 5-8 wide open throttle kickdowns to 1st gear, allowing 5 seconds in 2nd and 3rd gears between each kickdown.
  5. NOTE: Erase DTC P0700 in the PCM to turn the MIL off after making transmission repairs. This will turn the MIL off.
  6. For a specific DTC, drive vehicle under conditions that were present when DTC was set. Check for DTCs during road test. If no DTCs set, repair is complete. If a DTC sets, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS .
