Checking PCM Power & Ground Circuits

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS unless instructed otherwise in following steps.
  1. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the PCM harness connector. See Figure. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe the PCM fused B+ circuit in the PCM harness connector. If the test light illuminates brightly, go to step  3. If the test light does not illuminate brightly, repair the fused B+ circuit.
  2. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the PCM harness connector. Turn the ignition on. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe the PCM fused ignition switch output circuit in the PCM harness connector. If the test light illuminated brightly, go to the next step. If the test light did not illuminate brightly, repair the ignition switch output circuit.
  3. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the PCM harness connector. Using a 12 volt test light connected to battery voltage, probe the PCM ground circuits in the PCM harness connector. If the test light illuminated brightly, the test is complete. If the test light did not illuminate brightly, repair the PCM ground circuits.
