Front Fog Lamp Indicator Inoperative

NOTE: Ensure that the fog lamps operate properly before proceeding with this test. If not, select SERVICE INFORMATION from the menu and repair as necessary.
CAUTION: Ensure that the battery is fully charged.
  1. Disconnect the instrument cluster C2 harness connector. See Figure. Turn the headlamps on. Turn the fog lamps on. Measure the voltage between the fog lamp switch output circuit and ground. If the voltage is greater than 10.0 volts, go to the next step. If the voltage is less than 10.0 volts, repair the front fog lamp switch output circuit for an open.
  2. Turn the ignition off. Remove the instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article. Remove the inoperative LED. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER BULBS & LED under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article. Using a DVOM, select DIODE MODE, and attach the leads across the LED. Ensure that the Red lead is on the (+) of the LED. If the indicator illuminated, replace the instrument cluster. If the indicator did not illuminate, replace the inoperative indicator LED.
