Low Oil Pressure Indicator Always On

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Ensure that engine oil pressure is within normal operating range. Allow the engine to idle. With the DRBIII in SENSORS, read the engine oil pressure switch state. If the engine oil pressure switch status reads CLOSED, go to the next step. If the engine oil pressure switch status does not read CLOSED, replace the instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article.
  2. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the engine oil pressure switch harness connector. With the DRBIII in SENSORS, read the engine oil pressure switch status. If the engine oil pressure switch status reads CLOSED, go to the next step. If the engine oil pressure switch status does not read CLOSED, replace the engine oil pressure switch.
  3. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the engine oil pressure switch harness connector. Disconnect the PCM C1 harness connector. See Figure. Measure the resistance between ground and the engine oil pressure switch sense circuit. If the resistance is below 5.0 ohms, repair the engine oil pressure switch sense circuit for a short to ground. If the resistance is above 5.0 ohms, the test is complete.
